The goal of this lab was to explore the primary literature concerning challenges in metabarcoding soil ciliates, and the purpose was to familiarize ourselves with referring to scientific articles for research information.

Dr. Adair began the lab by explaining our goals for the semester and what we will be doing each lab. During this lab, my partner and I read the article “Barcoding ciliates: a comprehensive study of 75 isolates of the genus Tetrahymena.” After that, we worked on our powerpoint presentation by collaboratively answering the given questions about our article.

My goal for the semester is to immerse myself in the research we will be conducting in this lab, and commit the things I learn to memory. The techniques we use in this lab will build the foundation for possible research in the future.
