Welcome to the Baylor Biology Graduate Students group! This group was created as a resource for consulting other biology graduate students about life at Baylor, a forum to share about upcoming events, and as an easy way to communicate among the Biology Department graduate students. Click the button below to learn more about our History.
The Biology Department encompasses two unique groups of research: Cellular, Molecular, Health, and Disease (CMHD) and Environment, Ecology, and Organismal (EEO).
With their powers combined, these two tracks gave us our name CEGSS (CMHD / EEO Graduate Student Society).
All meeting times for the semester can be found on our Calendar page.
CEGSS meets bi-monthly, with one meeting dedicated to general affairs and the other dedicated to Peer Review.
General Meetings are open to all biology graduate students, but are mandatory for those in Leadership positions.
Meetings may include, but are not limited to:
- Departmental updates
- Social event planning
- Workshop planning
- Sharing volunteer opportunities
- Establishing strategies for communication
Peer Review Sessions are specialized times reserved for, as the name implies, feedback from graduate peers. These sessions provide opportunities for feedback for the “host” of the session, but also invaluable editing and reviewing experience for other graduates. To sign up for a session, you can fill out the request form.
These sessions are open for anything, such as:
- Specific aims
- Sections of longer piece of writing
- Journal clubs
- Data presentations
- Seminar talks
- Lab meeting presentations
- Email correspondance
- And more!
