Nuts and bolts DS research methods we are covering this semester will include:

  • Measuring emotions and mood within language by measuring valence, arousal, and dominance as demonstrated in this paper.
  • Extracting content from Twitter and Facebook APIs.
  • Calculating social media sentiment using VaderSentiment and performance metrics by adopting methodologies described in this paper.
  • Applying Levenshtein Distance to fuzzy text matching patterns using fuzzywuzzy.
