Interdisciplinary resource for research in theatre, drama, literature, entertainment, social commentary, history, politics, music, censorship, gender, and romanticism. Serves an archive of almost every play submitted for license between 1737 and 1824 (over 2500). Includes correspondence, diaries, biographical information, advertisements, and companion texts.

Discover full-text, primary source material from law, news, documents, photographs and illustrations, and historical books covering the 17th to 19th centuries in one search. Also may limit to selected resources only. Simple keyword search or advanced search by author, title, publisher and other features. Limits to type of work (article, book, advertisement, etc.), publication dates, language, and library/institution holding the source. Allows for discovering term frequency use across the individual databases covered.

This resource was on trial and has been acquired by the Baylor Libraries.

TLS Historical Archive

Essays and reviews from the Times literary supplement. Containing every page of every copy of the TLS published from 1902 to 2005. Also includes identification of the anonymous contributors, reviewers, essayists, and writers of letters and poems, allowing students, researchers, critics and authors to explore in greater depth the literary activity and critical opinion makers of the 20th and early 21st centuries.

British Periodicals IV

This trial adds British Periodicals IV to our subscribed content. Provides access to the searchable full text of hundreds of British periodicals from the late seventeenth century to the early twentieth, with high-resolution facsimile page images. Content comes from the UMI microfilm collections: Early British Periodicals, English Literary Periodicals, British Periodicals in the Creative Arts, and additional titles. Topics covered include literature, philosophy, history, science, the fine arts, the social science, music, art, drama, archaeology, and architecture.

The Baylor Libraries recently acquired additional backfiles for this resource, moving the years of indexed content to 1965 to present for the Science Citation Index and the Social Sciences Citation Index.  Previously, the indexed content was 1970 to present).

Provides full-text , full-text searching, and full color coverage of eight of the most popular and influential magazines in Great Britain from 1869 – 1970 (Brittania and Eve (1929-1931, 1952), monthly; Bystander (1903-1949), weekly; The Graphic (1869-1932), weekly; The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News (1874-1970), later called Sport & Country in the 1950s and Farm & Country (1960-1971), weekly; The Illustrated War News (1939), weekly; The Sketch (1893-1929, 1953-56), weekly; The Sphere (1900-1919, 1964), weekly; The Tatler 1901-1967), weekly). Topics covered include women’s issues, news, society, sports and theater, and World War II. Titles are important for their coverage of new and popular authors (Agatha Christie, Daphne du Maurier), editorial cartoons and illustrations, World War II, sporting events, theater criticism, politics, and satire. Part of the larger British Periodicals collection and will be searched along with the other magazines in that collection.
