Isaac Gunhee Lee (’13) After graduating, Isaac decided to attend Harvard Divinity School. Many things affected him to make this decision; however he is pleased with his plans and is both excited and nervous to begin his future career. He asks that you please keep him in your prayers.
Shortly after graduating, Khadija Lalani (’13) started an internship with QoLSDI, a nonprofit that helps adults attain their GED. She is also a science teacher and so far her internship has been an amazing and humbling experience.
Kristina Ballard (’11) works as the communications specialist for the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Texas A&M. We bought our first home in College Station last fall, and have the cutest dog in the whole world.
Amanda Garrett (’11) will be graduating with a master’s from UTMB PA Program in December. She is getting married in March 2014. She and her fiancé, Justin, have the cutest *cat* in the whole world, Annie.
Kristen Anzolitto (‘10) graduated from the BBA/MTax program and was married on January 2, 2010.
Amabely Alderete (’10) is currently attending Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
Ross Natividad (‘10) was awarded the prestigious Fulbright scholarship after graduating. He is currently teaching English in West Timor, Indonesia.
Zaire Adams (’09) graduated from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Teaching in August 2012 and is currently getting his teaching certification in Texas while searching for jobs. Last year, he also released an album he produced and mixed himself using GarageBand. The album is called “The Green Line: from 8th to 25th” and it can be found on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Zune and a bunch of other online stores (search for his stage name, Zaire Kariff). He also has three singles for sale.
From late 2009 through early 2011, Zaire was a member of Sundown Collaborative Theatre of Denton, TX. It is a small independent theatre company that friends of his formed. He has acted, done tech work, performed music, and created collaborative works with an ensemble. He is currently working on writing his first two books, though is admittedly in the research/creation stage of writing. It has been a lot of fun.
Zaire is trying to figure out what he would want a PhD in, if at all. He is likely going to attend school while he is a teacher, pursuing some area in the Humanities.
The off-Broadway comedy How to Be a New Yorker is currently playing at Sofia’s Downstairs Theater in Times Square. The show’s writers and stars, native New Yorker Margaret Copeland (’08), and Kevin James Doyle, are also licensed NYC tour guides. They’re sharing their combined wealth of experience with the masses in the Saturday Night Live-style show featuring the duo playing more than 60 characters. Copeland talks about her experiences at Baylor and why she went to college here in the show. She studied creative writing at Baylor and continued her training at the Yale Film Institute, The Atlantic, The Upright Citizens Brigade, Gotham Writers, and Hudson Valley Shakespeare. Mimi (Wiggins) Perreault (’05) is beginning her second year in the University of Missouri School of Journalism PhD program. Perreault studies the news coverage of natural disasters and the role of journalists in conveying emergency/disaster information. Christopher Byers (’04),PhD, MT, CC, CPhT married Mary Ford (Texas Tech class of 2009) on March 10, 2013 and started their life together in their new home in Las Colinas, TX. (see images above–click to enlarge)
Brett Van Winkle (‘04) Looking back on his BIC experience Brett recalls that “BIC was one of the greatest things I’ve done in my life. It helped me think critically, and be more amazed with the world. I’m a better person and attorney/business owner because of it. Thank you BIC!”
After Baylor Michael Barrera (’03) completed his Law Degree (J.D. ’07) and a Master of Arts (M.A. ’07) concurrently at Duke University. On August 4, 2013, he will receive his law license and be sworn in and admitted to practice law in Connecticut on August 4, 2013. Michael’s first novel, So Shall We Pass, was published in August of 2011and his second novel will hopefully be published by the end of 2013 or the beginning of 2014. He and his wife Lauren (married in December 11) now reside in New Orleans, and they hope to make it to a Baylor Homecoming soon!
Emily Nicholson (‘03) is the Campaign Director for the Newseum in Washington, D.C. She lives with her husband Rob Simcox, a real estate attorney, and their cat Roslin in Arlington, V.A. Emily can be reached at emilygracenicholson@gmail.com.
Dr. Omoniyi “Niyi” Omotoso (’00) is a proud father of a beautiful almost 2-year old daughter. He enjoys practicing pediatrics in community health clinics and working in some hospitals in Northern California. He fondly look back on memories of his BIC days.
