The Libraries have been hard at work all summer, and we are eager to present new programming, new spaces, and tons of updates as you prepare for the start of fall classes. Let’s jump right in!
Pathways: Your On-Ramp to Creativity in Making and Media!
Starting this Fall, all users of the Makerspace and Creative Media resources are required to complete our new Pathways program, which is designed to provide you with the training you need to utilize them efficiently and safely. These Canvas-based course modules begin with the basics for how to access and utilize spaces before giving you the chance to select specific tools or skills to add to your roster. So, whether you plan to assign your students a project to use the Makerspace or you want to check out Creative Labs video equipment for a personal project, make sure to make your first stop our Pathways site!

Coming Soon: A Celebratory, Collaborative and Completely Reimagined Moody Garden Level
Moody Memorial Library’s Garden Level has long been a central location for study groups, essential services, and the nationally-recognized Black Gospel Archive, and beginning this fall, a major update will take it to the next level. Here’s what’s coming:
- New free-standing furniture perfect for study sessions, group projects, and collaboration (September 2025)
- Reservable “pods” accommodating up to 8 people featuring group-focused technology (Fall 2025)
- An expanded Black Gospel Archive with more room for collections, class instruction, public performances, and more (Spring 2026)
- A permanent exhibit on Black Gospel Music and Black Preaching (2026)
Stop by the Garden Level to see these changes as they take place over the coming year, and if your students are looking for additional seating during the construction process, don’t worry! We’ve added dozens of tables and individual study pods to the first floor of Jesse H. Jones Library to accommodate their needs.
Introducing IDEAL: Inclusive Design for Engagement and Accessibility in Learning
This five-week online course offered by Learning Design professionals is designed to help instructors develop a strong foundation in accessible course design and its critical role in supporting all learners. By the end of the course, instructors will be able to recognize the value of accessibility and Universal Design for Learning and apply inclusive design practices in their own courses.
Collection Development Committee News
One of the vital tasks of a research library is managing its print collections. The Baylor Libraries routinely and strategically manage our collections, withdrawing print volumes using criteria appropriate for the collection or discipline. Currently, library personnel are withdrawing materials from several areas of Moody Memorial Library, Jones Library, and the W. R. Poage Legislative Library with the long-term goal of repurposing space to provide more areas for student and faculty collaboration, research, and learning, and to open space to house future collections. To learn more about the Libraries’ current collection management plans, visit Collections Management.
Zeta Children’s Collection Gets a New Home
