Hall monitor entry for Tuesday, January 3, 1893. In it, monitor states that “It is the tendency of young men to congregate in the halls and discuss the relative merits of their society, and the monitor was kept busy during latter part of noon recess in keeping them quiet.” You’ll find this item in the BU Records: Monitorial Records, 1892-1897 (#BU/392), Box 1, Folder 2, at The Texas Collection, Baylor University.

Later on in a different book, another hall monitor reports on Friday, September 12, 1896: “Much confusion around water barrel, because only one dipper available. I recommend that the school buy 2 dozen tin cups and place them where boys can drink in a hurry.” No later mention of whether Baylor purchased any tin cups. You’ll find this item in the BU Records: Monitorial Records, 1892-1897 (#BU/392), Box 1, Folder 3, at The Texas Collection, Baylor University.
