My Hometown

Downtown Dallas Skyline

I was born and raised in a city called Dallas, TX. A city of 1.2 million, Dallas has pretty much everything you can think of. It is one of my favorite places in the world, as it is were I am from. From the museums, theaters, music venues, and sports arenas, Dallas has something that will keep even the pickiest person entertained. I am from a suburb of Dallas called University Park, which is about 15 minutes from downtown. Originally, I grew up in a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex called Plano, until I moved the spring of my junior year of high school. There are many things in my hometown that I like, but listing them all would take up way too much space. So, here are two things that I like about my hometown of Dallas.

1. The Music Scene

Dallas has multiple different venues for music, some major ones including the American Airlines center, the House of Blues, and the Palladium Ballroom. I’ve seen a variety of different bands at these venues, including the Dropkick Murphy’s at the House of Blues , Manchester Orchestra at the Palladium ballroom, and U2 at the American Airlines center. Some of the smaller venues include Trees, the Prophet Bar, and the Door. Smaller bands typically play at these minor venues, but the show is no less fun. In fact, one of the best shows i’ve seen was at the Prophet Bar. Overall, Dallas’s music scene is one of my favorite parts of the city.

2. The Parks

Throughout all of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, there are a variety of parks, large and small. I enjoy mountain biking a lot, and some of these parks have mountain biking trails. Specifically, the ones that I frequent the most are Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, TX and Northshore Trail in Flower Mound, TX. Northshore trail is approximately 13 miles, and Arbor Hills has a trail that is about 2 miles. I enjoy the outdoors a lot, and so I enjoy going to these a lot.
