Three Leadership Theories

Situational leadership embodies how the leader needs to behave in what the situation calls for. Having a situational leader is good because they are able to constantly change their tactic on how to deal with their followers in a given situation. They are also able to truly understand how their followers operate. Having this type of leadership style is very beneficial because it provides support and encouragement when needed. It is also beneficial  because of how the leader would be able to use different types of strategies for whatever they are faced with. An example of that is when people enter into the business world and are in charge of projects or presentations. There are four categories of directive and supportive styles for this topic, they are, directing approach, coaching approach, supporting approach, and delegating approach. For countries who are struggling, this type of leadership would be proven to provide numerous amounts of benefits. It would also be good because they would be able to take different strategies depending on the type of circumstance they are in. Many people approach situations in different ways, being able to understand how people operate and how they interpret different situations is what makes this type of leadership thrive.

Authentic leadership is defined as having a deep understanding of one’s purpose, require having strong values on what the right thing to do is in a given situation, establishing multiple mutually trusting bonds with other people, demonstrating how to have a resilient amount of self-disciple and trying to act on their values, and lastly they need to be passionate about their values. There are multiple aspects of authentic leadership that are beneficial to followers. Leaders are able to be transparent and are able to show the followers that they truly believe in their cause. They are also able to let the followers know that when they are talking, they are being genuine in their viewpoints. Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King are great examples of this type of leadership. They not only were a part of something great such as helping the public believe in a better cause, they also helped people strive to be motivated for a better way of living their life. This type of leadership helps motivate the population to know they deserve better living situations and can have better living situations.

Authoritarian leadership has almost no regard to the public and everyone around them has almost no bearing to the decision making. This type of leadership style is exemplified by leaders when they are dictating what they need to be done. An example of this type of leader is Hitler. He had no regard to the Jews and he did not listen to what other people said. He had a set viewpoint and did not deviate from it. Dictators tend to show little mercy to what goes around them. These types of leaders also like to be in control of everything around them. They also strive to be aggressive in being able to get their opinion across and they also tend to have an aggressive style in managing people. In this leadership they tend to have a specific set of rules and regulations and they do not deviate from this.
