Class is back in session here at Baylor University, and that means the newest renovations to our beloved W.R. Poage Legislative Library building are nearing completion. Over the summer, we’ve been re-tooling the second floor into our brand-new Graduate Research Center (GRC). From the GRC website:
The Graduate Research Center (GRC) is a space dedicated to supporting and inspiring graduate students in their academic endeavors. Located on the second floor of the W. R. Poage Legislative Library, but also accessible from a door on the second floor corridor between Moody and Jones libraries, the GRC features a quiet study area (affectionately called, “The Incubator”), five collaboration rooms, a conference room, and a lounge area. A break room and a visualization studio will soon be available. The GRC intends to be a gathering place for graduate students to engage with the tools and resources offered by the Baylor Libraries and its campus partners.
The GRC is open now until 5 PM, but those hours will be extended in October once renovations are complete.
Construction on the GRC has energized the staff here at the Baylor Collections of Political Materials and driven shone a light on our “secret library.” Additionally, our exhibition hall has emerged from its chrysalis as a new Reading Room for visiting and local researchers. We’re excited and proud to be part of the newest stage of the library’s life. Come on over and check out the new additions!
