The Rape of Europa documentary

I’ve heard back from 22/26 students. Based on the results of the poll, we will have an extended class on Thursday, March 22 meeting at 2:00 pm with class ending around 4:30 so that we can watch and discuss The Rape of Europa.

In the meantime, here is a link to the official website for the documentary: http://therapeofeuropa.com/. The documentary was inspired by the book The Rape of Europa by Lynn Nicholas. The documentary was produced by Dallas author Robert Edsel, who has also authored two books about the Monuments Men and the rescue of art seized by the Nazis during the 1930s and 1940s. Those books, Rescuing DaVinci and The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History, provide another perspective on the rescue and recovery of Europe’s art treasures.

Before the break, I will hand out a reading list to prepare for viewing the documentary.  For now, here is the official trailer for The Rape of Europa.
