Undergraduate

All incoming freshmen and transfer students, regardless of major, are required to audition on their principal instrument for acceptance into the School of Music. The audition is the most important factor in determining whether a student will be accepted as a music major.

Upcoming audition dates are listed below. Applicants can select their desired audition date on the School of Music application.

Saturday, February 1st, 2025

Saturday, February 22, 2025

Undergraduate saxophone requirements:

  • Two contrasting selections that give you the opportunity to demonstrate lyrical expression and technical skill in the audition. The selections should come from two different works. Individual movements from multi-movement pieces and complete pieces that stand alone are equally welcome.
  • Scales: All major scales – preferably full range, and full range chromatic scale.
  • Selections should be performed without piano accompaniment.
  • We request that candidates not perform any all-state etudes from the current or previous academic year.

All candidates are welcome to communicate directly with Dr. Jacobson (michael_jacobson@baylor.edu) with questions regarding their application, repertoire, audition date, etc

Unable to attend an audition day?

Students who are unable to attend an on-campus audition day can upload recorded audition materials to their School of Music application on Acceptd.
