John Wardlaw

John Wardlaw is a senior saxophone performance major from Beasley, Texas. As a high school student, John participated in several All Region and Area bands in both classical and jazz. In 2017, John was a finalist in Baylor University’s Concerto Competition performing Ingolf Dahl’s “Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Wind Orchestra”. In addition to the standard repertoire, John is an advocate for new music having commissioned and premiered several works for saxophone and mixed ensembles. John’s primary teachers include Michael Jacobson, Ricardo Chaves, Dan Gelok, and David Hardin and has studied additionally with Stephen Page, Nathan Mertens, Joey Resendez, and Zach Shemon. Currently, John performs with the Baylor University Wind Ensemble and the Parallax Saxophone Quartet.
