Friday the 13th (Marcus Nispel, 2009)

Friday the 13th (Marcus Nispel, 2009)Get our your leg-warmers and parachute pants—it’s time to party like it’s 1985, with a new Friday the 13th movie opening on Friday the 13th. Although billed as a remake, it’s really a sequel that ignores the existence of all those other sequels even as it rehashes, reuses, and otherwise regurgitates their cliches, all of which were already getting to be old hat halfway through Reagan’s tenure in the White House. Nispel brings the same bruised grunginess that he used in remaking The Texas Chainsaw Massacre five years ago, but it can’t disguise the fact that there isn’t a single innovative moment to be found.
