Cameron Park Zoo

Today I took some time away from working on homework to visit the zoo. The weather in Waco has been a bit unpredictable lately. One day it’s warm outside and the next it’s cold! Despite being from Ohio, I do not enjoy being outside when it’s chilly. After spending four years in Orlando for college, I am used to warm weather and only having to wear winter coats when home for Christmas. Lately I’ve been having to wear one of my winter coats to school.  Needless to say, I definitely appreciate the warmer days when they are here.

Fortunately it has warmed up some this weekend, so my boyfriend and I decided that it would be a great time to spend some time outside. We have been talking about going to the Cameron Park Zoo since we first started dating, but never visited. We decided to visit today and I’m so glad we did!

The zoo is small compared to zoos in larger cities, but it is truly a great zoo. The exhibits were all nice and they had a nice variety of animals. Overall the zoo felt a lot more intimate than larger zoos I have been to. The exhibits felt more open, which is both nice for the animals and for guests who want to enjoy the animals. We spent about two hours at the zoo and were able to see everything.  Admission was $9 per adult.  We considered possibly getting an annual pass so that we can go for walks around the zoo whenever we want. We haven’t decided whether or not we will be doing that, but I definitely recommend visiting the zoo and am sure I will visit it again at some point in the future!
