About

Hey there! If you’d like to know more about me then continue reading.

My full name is Daniel Ernest Mayfield IV and I was born and raised in Waco, I was born with clubbed feet  which required 3 surgeries to correct over the course of 5 years. I started St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School when I was 8 weeks old and graduated 6th grade 12 years later. It was a very small school, in fact there were only 12 kids in my 6th grade class and about 8 kids in the class below me. After elementary school, I started Vanguard College Preparatory School in 2008. It also was a rather small school, the grades went 7-12 but at most there were around 180 kids total each year. In middle school I played basketball and then in high school I played first base, third base, and pitcher on the Varsity baseball team where my Junior and Senior year we were District Champs.

Ever since I was a little kid I have had my mind set on going to Baylor, there just wasn’t any other place I would want to go. My grandfather used to take me to many Baylor football games in Floyd Casey Stadium and I would always tell myself that I would be one of those kids in the Baylor Line that ran out onto the field before the game. In addition, my family would always get season tickets to Baylor baseball and basketball games. I remember watching Momadou Diene play basketball, he was always the tallest player and it would sometimes be funny how he barely had to jump to put the ball in the goal. Ironically, after he graduated he began working at Vanguard where he was a coach and was one of my favorite teachers.

My plans for the future (both in and out of college) are pretty simple. Reason being is that I’m still not quite sure what exactly I want to do. I do know however that I want to do something in business such as Marketing or Entrepreneurship as things of that subject have always interested me.  Also, I may want to minor in Aviation Sciences where I can earn my pilot’s license. Earning my pilot’s license has been a dream for me as long as I can remember, my grandfather was a pilot in the Air Force and it was he that peaked my interest in anything and everything aviation. However, I still need some more time to think about what I want to do.
