Baylor Volleyball Looking to Repeat as Big 12 Champions

As Baylor Football prepares to kick off the 2020 season this weekend in Waco against the Jayhawks of Kansas, Coach Ryan McGuyre and Baylor Volleyball will as well, playing their season opener away against the Lady Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kansas. The Lady Bears will begin their two-day series on Friday evening, September 25 at 6:30pm and conclude the series on Saturday with the match set for 4:00pm. 

Leading the team this year will be senior Yossiana Pressley who was recently named the Big 12’s Preseason Player of the Year, senior Hannah (Lockin) Sedgwick, and redshirt junior Marieke van der Mark who joined Pressley on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, giving the Bears three selections for the second time in the last three seasons.

For the first time in school history, the Lady Bears finished the 2019 regular season ranked #1 in the country, producing a perfect undefeated record at home (17-0) and a 29-2 overall record for the season, claiming the program’s first-ever Big 12 championship title. The Baylor Bears and Texas Longhorns were named 2019 Big 12 Co-Champions.  The Big 12 last had co-champions in 2008.

The team’s home opener is set for Oct. 2 against TCU.
