Beginning in April 2020, the “B” Association will include devotionals in its spring and summer bi-monthly membership newsletters. All devotions will be authored by Baylor letterwinners. The devotion below was authored by Boyd Brigman, a freelance writer, Christian blogger, and football letterwinner (1983). Boyd resides in College Station, Texas. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Life’s not easy… it’s not supposed to be. The verse above describes Christians who have endurance and confidently walk through life no matter how difficult it gets. Until the current COVID-19 crisis hit us, we had become a society of victims. Searching for excuses to be offended at life’s unfairness.
Let’s face it, life is not fair, but we must not be frail in the midst of crisis. We are to be more than conquerors. Under pressure without being crushed, confused without being depressed, and attacked without being devastated. Even in the most challenging of times, we can stand our ground because God is still God. Our confidence springs from the awareness of who we are, and whose we are. That assurance will perplex unbelievers and impact them more than any sermon.
Life will often present difficult challenges. But when you are able to face that reality without flinching, when you can walk through the storm with confident composure, then you’ll be equipped to help others in their walk as well.
