It’s Time

Yesterday, I started on my DNA extraction. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that all of the hard work that we have all put into the semester is finally yielding results! Last week I was able to see a TEM picture of my phage and I was so overwhelmed to finally have this confirmation of my work. My phage is 50 nanometers for the head and 250 nanometers for the tail. Apparently 250 nanometers is really long! I had no idea, but I feel like the name should pay homage to the size. At this point I am thinking about naming it Tantor, after the elephant in Tarzan who exclaims “But mooom, what about BACTERIA?!”
