Join us February 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM for a 19CRS event with visiting scholars.

The seminar “Unspoken Histories: Legacies of Slavery and Colonialism in Modern Spain” brings together leading scholars to explore how Spain’s illicit slave trade and narratives of race shaped Spanish culture, industries, and literature in the nineteenth century and beyond.

Join us for an afternoon of critical conversation at the Armstrong Browning Library Lecture Hall with Akiko Tsuchiya from Washington University in St. Louis, Aurélie Vialette from Yale University, and Wan Sonya Tang from Boston College. Refreshments to follow the discussion.

For those who cannot attend the event in person, you are encouraged to join us remotely through Zoom.
