The Great American Hall of Wonders
This exhibition hosted by the Smithsonian American Art Museum celebrates the 19th century belief that America was an exceptional and innovative nation. It features great works of art, images of technological innovation, and a variety of other works demonstrating the American spirit. Artists featured include John James Audubon, Albert Bierstadt, George Catlin, Frederic Edwin Church, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, Thomas Moran, and Charles Willson Peale. The site includes an interactive slide show and an eight-part podcast about the works, as well as articles and a museum blog about the exhibition.
