Baylor’s own, Dr. Dan Walden, is giving a talk on his recent National Endowment for the Humanities institute on August 31st at 3:30 pm in the Armstrong Browning Library. We invite you to come out and join Dr. Walden as he discuses America’s relationship to the sea. Dr. Walden himself describes his research as such:

“America has been intricately linked to the Atlantic Ocean since the first native inhabitants settled along the eastern coast of the continent, but the 19th century saw perhaps the most important and extensive connection between America and the sea in terms of economics, demographics, and culture. This talk, ……, offers a brief history of Anglo-American engagement with the Atlantic Ocean, tracing the currents of maritime life in American life through the late nineteenth century.”
