The feature story is Drought Response Sparks the Battle of St. Augustine. Droughts in Texas has been a big issue in the news during the summer months. Nothing has ever happened though, the water bill is still the same cost, and water continues to come out of the faucet. The Texas Senate has started to work on legislation that would allow a homeowner to switch to native grasses without legal retribution from their homeowners’ association. They are trying to figure out a way to restrict the amount of water these big cities are using.

Another story I read was about how Ted Nugent is going to attend the State of the Union with Stockman. The United States Representative Steve Stockman has invited Ted Nugent to go with him to hear President Barack Obama’s speech. Ted Nugent has been in the news for talking bad on the president and is an outspoken advocate for gun rights. Nugent recently spoke about how Obama is very good at speaking and making everything sound good, but actions speaks louder than words.

The last article I read was about Lawmakers urge new hearing in the death penalty case. More than 100 elected officials are wanting Harris country’s district attorney to take a look again at the Duane Buck death penalty case. They are saying that he was treated unfairly and that the only reason put on the case was because he was black and a threat to society.
I thought that it was very interesting that the The Texas Tribune was brand new. I had no idea that it was started in 2009 and that it was a non-profit organization. I think the audience for this medium is Texas residents and politicians. I didn’t think it was appealing to me because it was all about politics and government. It didn’t have much on business or anything about sports.
