This Impact issue features exciting news about SOE programs, faculty, students, and alumni who are making a difference.

• The cover story, Preparing Teacher Leaders for Service, gives you a look at why Baylor’s undergraduate program to prepare educators is so successful — providing both a depth of knowledge and depth of experience.

• If you’ve been wondering “What Does R1 Status Mean for SOE?” you can find out in this story. The University’s R1 status enhances the School’s opportunities to create new knowledge and expand its impact, and the SOE has significantly contributed to Baylor’s R1 aspirations.

• This issue’s alumni profile shares the story behind the educational mission of Restoration Gateway in Uganda, a ministry founded by Dr. Tim McCall, BA ’71, and SOE graduate Janice Moore McCall, BA ’72. In addition to a hospital, clinic, and orphanage, Restoration Gateway has a school offering “active learning” curriculum.

• You’ve probably heard of Baylor football stand-out Jalen Pitre, but you might not know about his academic success as a master’s graduate in Educational Psychology. Pitre’s plan to Never Stop Learning is propelling his success.
