Baylor School of Education assistant professor Dr. Lakia Scott and students in her Elementary Literacy Education classes created  book bags for the children Mission Waco serves as Christmas gifts. Each Baylor student donated a book with a multi-cultural theme, and Dr. Scott contributed the bags. Then they got together to decorate each bag to match the book’s theme and later delivered them to Mission Waco. Dr. Scott has done the same type of project at previous schools before she came to Baylor this fall. She believes Baylor students can better connect to the Waco community through this project.
