About Me

Hi! I’m Shannon and if I could, I would spend the rest of my life outside. Sadly, that’s not the most pragmatic lifestyle in the 21st century, but I’m doing the best I can. I am an ecology major with an enthusiasm for things most people find kind of gross—I love spiders and mushrooms and frogs and dirt and snakes. I also love some more normal things, like food. I started this blog because I know it can be daunting to try to plan meals to cook on a campout.  Because of this fear, “foods” like hot dogs and Spam have become iconic camping cuisine. No one wants to eat tasteless, nutritionless mystery meat after a long day of activity. Cooking outdoors takes some planning, but if you’re prepared it’s not difficult to create some great dishes that will fuel your adventures.
