we took Max (age three) on his first canoe trip this weekend to Lake Waco. he did a pretty good job after our first few minutes of arguing about him standing up in the boat! the water was calm (until one crazy boat of fisherfolk, decided to open it up full throttle..the big engine, not the trolling motor…and head straight at us! and we’re pretty sure they didn’t see us until we frantically flagged them down with our paddles!…crisis averted though). after Max’s initial lesson on proper canoe behavior, we had a good time though. round trip, we paddled about four miles (thanks,google maps distance tool!) and ended our last mile with lots of splashing and laughter.
