NCAA-DOD3The NCAA and the U.S. Department of Defense have released the RFP for the “Mind Matters Challenge,” a program that funds research and education programs on concussion reporting and treatment.  The program has two focus areas: “Changing attitudes about concussions in young and emerging adults” (a research challenge) and “Educational programs targeting young and emerging adults” (an educational programs challenge).

The research challenge will award up to 10 grants of $400,000 each for projects aimed at studying the mechanisms influencing cultural change around concussion reporting in the target population.  The education challenge will award up to ten grants of $25,000 each to help investigators create compelling and impactful educational materials for student-athletes and other at-risk populations in the area of concussion education.

The deadline to apply for both the research and education programs is Thursday, Jan. 9, 2015.  Click here for more information about the programs and application instructions.
