About NPHW
During the first full week of April, The Department of Public Health participates in National Public Health Week (NPHW). NPHW is a time to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight important issues for our nation’s health. Each year the American Public Health Association develops a national campaign. The Department of Public Health hosts a variety of activities and highlights each of the daily themes on our social media each year.
Priority Areas
Each of the priority areas, established each year by APHA, are featured on the department Instagram account (baylorpublichealth). Not only was there great information related to each theme, but these posts featured students, faculty, and local organizations who are working in these areas. The themes this year were:
- It Starts Here: Your Health is Our Mission
- Climate Action Starts Here: Championing Resilience for Health
- Health Equity Starts Here: Optimizing Health for All
- Advocacy Starts Here: Amplifying Voices for Public Health
- The Future of Public Health Starts Here: Strengthening the Public Health

This year a virtual Seminar Series was held on April 8, 2025. Our two alumni presenters, Jonatan Garcia, MPH, and Dani Mantay, MPH, focused on different aspects surrounding Public Health and Clinical Trials.

Tabling on Fountain Mall
The Department also hosted an opportunity to engage during NPHW by hosting a table in Fountain Mall. Check out some of the photos below from our student intern, Taylor Nilsen, who hosted the event with the Department of Public Health. We were so excited to see everyone supporting the different areas of public health!
