Recently, six of our eight PUBH 1145 Graduate Instructors were named Fall Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Nominees. So we reached out and asked these students about their experience as a Graduate Instructor.
See what the Nominees have to say about their experience as Graduate Instructors:
“Teaching has opened the door to so many opportunities for me. I have loved creating bonds with my students and being able to lecture on topics I’m passionate about. Couldn’t be more thankful for Mrs. Shanks and the entire public health department for offering such a great opportunity!”
Rameen Haroon
“I have consistently been inspired by the student’s curiosity, empathy, and willingness to engage with public health topics while acting as a Graduate Instructor for Baylor within the MPH program – they have been truly wonderful!”
Anne Burchett
“Being a graduate instructor has been very rewarding and has given me a great opportunity to grow. Grow in my knowledge of public health, grow in my delivery of this information and grow in my relational skills. I am extremely happy I got the chance to do this!”
Elakeche Abah
“While it has surely revealed areas of growth, the opportunity to teach has built both confidence and comfort in the classroom. Teaching PUBH 1145 has shown me how influential instructors can be in a student’s life and has reminded me of the wonderful instructors that helped shape me into the person I am today. My first semester and a half as a graduate instructor has only solidified my hopes of pursuing a career in academia and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to teach at Baylor University. “
Brittany Needham
“My experience as a Graduate Instructor has been one of the most enlightening and purposive experiences of my life. It’s given me the amazing opportunity to guide others in making positive changes in how they see and feel about themselves. Being in the classroom has continued to push me to be a better health educator and person than I was before.”
Sophia Garza
“Being a graduate instructor has been one of my favorite experiences during the MPH program. My approach to teaching this course has always been empowering my students to make the best, informed decisions about their health. I have loved connecting with students in a classroom setting; it has been an immense privilege and honor!”
