What is a Leader?
He steps foot into his garage
filled with cars and boxed fans
it has now become his office
where he makes his countless plans
He writes down his ideas
some big and some small
until one completes his vision
and he goes to make a call
People gather around the stage
to hear this mans proposal
the crowd suddenly goes wild
and his product becomes global
As the years begin to follow
His business starts to rise
countless resumes come flowing in
and Apple becomes an enterprise
While some leaders may get stubborn
when their company finds success
He stood by his employees
and saw them as no less
He did not dress in fancy clothes
or boast about his wealth
he related to his workers
and was there when they needed help
He changed the way we connect
and found new ways to interact
Steve Jobs was an inspiring leader
and that is, without question, a fact.
I chose to dedicate this poem to Steve Jobs because he is identified as a self confident and intelligent leader. In the reading, it states he is an emotional intelligent leader for he “never doubted his products would change the world and despite resistance, he did things the way he thought best” (Northouse 24). This reading unveiled that there is more to a leader than being able to confidently speak to large groups and proposing a brilliant idea. You need certain qualities to be a successful leader, and those qualities can be taught if one is willing to learn. A question I got from the reading was what factors do I need to improve on in order to become a better leader?
