Provides statistical data or citations to data from approximately 40 national governments’ statistical abstracts as well as compendia issued by international organizations and research firms. This resource works similarly to ProQuest Statistical Abstract of the U.S. and includes data that is not easily found elsewhere. Oxford Bibliographies. African Studies

Offers peer-reviewed annotated bibliographies on African culture, history, and society. Introductory essay provides a review of current research trends and issues. Bibliographies are browseable by subject area and keyword searchable. Contains a “My OBO” function that allows users to create personalized bibliographies of individual citations from different bibliographies.

The Oxford Encyclopedia of African Thought

Last year, EBSCO Publishing bought HW Wilson.  EBSCO is in the process of migrating all Wilson databases to the EBSCOhost platform.  The following Wilson databases acquired by the Baylor University Libraries have been moved to the EBSCOhost platform:

The remaining Wilson databases should be migrated to the EBSCOhost platform before the end of February 2012, and include the following resources acquired by the Baylor University Libraries:

  • Children’s Core Collection
  • Fiction Core Collection
  • Middle and Junior High Core Collection
  • Public Library Core Collection Nonfiction
  • Senior High Core Collection

Web of Knowledge — Book Citation Index

The Book Citation Index has been added to our Web of Knowledge subscription for a trial period. To use this feature, click on the “Cited Reference Search” link and complete the search form. Just below the search form you will see “Citation Databases” with a “+” to the left. click on that plus to view the options that allow you to narrow your cited search to books or chapters in books.

ProQuest Black Freedom I and II

ProQuest History Vault is created from primary source materials from the University Publications of America (UPA) Collections. There will be three modules released in 2011:

  • The Black Freedom Struggle in the 20th Century, Federal Government Records (released)
  • The Black Freedom Struggle in the 20th Century: Organizational Records and Personal Papers, Part 1 (released)
  • The Vietnam War and American Foreign Policy, 1960–1975 (scheduled for release Fall 2011)

Trove is a new discovery experience focused on Australia and Australians. Trove provides integrated access to millions of items from a range of the National Library’s collaborative services and from elsewhere. Metadata (information about items) is pooled from Australian sources including: The Australian National Bibliographic Database – containing location information from thousands of Australian libraries, The Picture Australia program, The Australian Research Online program, The Music Australia program, The Register of Australian Archives and Manuscripts, and The People Australia program, and some overseas sources.

The following resources are no longer available from the OCLC FirstSearch service.  We have moved PAIS to ProQuest and the other 4 to EBSCOhost.
