Hey everyone! We had an incredible last day in Kota Kinabalu. We started out with breakfast at the local curry house again and enjoyed more Roti Canai and Mango Lassis. During breakfast, we reflected on the incredible ways we’ve seen God move so far on this trip.
After breakfast, we got to visit the Mari-Mari Cultural Village. The indigenous tribes of Malaysia have a rich and diverse history, which is recreated on the outskirts of Kota Kinabalu. Here, we toured several different kinds of housing for various tribes along with their traditions, such as how they made fire or welcomed home warriors. We also got to sample various drinks, snacks, and meals that would have been made by the tribes.
After the walking tour, we watched traditional tribal music and dances. Some of our group even joined the dancers on the stage to try it themselves! We ended with another great meal before we headed off to our rehearsal with the STS choir in preparation for our concert.
It was so fun to be able to watch the STS choir rehearse and especially to rehearse with them! They were all so welcoming and we even got to learn a dance from one member of their group. They brought so much energy to the rehearsal and we are so grateful to have had this opportunity!
After a quick stop at the hostel to get ready for the concert, we had our last dinner at STS. They have provided us with great meals for the past three nights, and tonight was no exception! Finally, we had our combined concert with the STS choir, which was received incredibly well. It was so fun to perform here and to see everyone from our sessions one last time!
