WE MADE IT TO MALAYSIA TODAY!!!!

It was a long journey, and we are tired to be sure. However, our group is quickly becoming very close and I am not only learning from the new culture surrounding us, I’m learning from my team members too. From turbulence to being at the top of the highest building in the world (Burj Khalifa in Dubai) to singing with new friends at the Sabah Theological Seminary (STS), we are making memories already. We have some members (including myself) who are motion sickness prone, which means we have battled this leg of travel. Though it certainly hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows, WE PRAISE THE LORD for allowing us to arrive here safely, together, and with all luggage!

One of the first joys for many of us upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur was the coffee! It was A) a much needed boost of energy and B) delicious and cheap – a college student’s dream combination. We ordered three-layer lattes, mysterious sesame seed covered balls, sticky rice rolls, and other scrumptious treats to feed our bodies and souls before the final flight. Looking back, I wish I would’ve counted just how many times we passed through a security line. By the time we exited customs at Kota Kinabalu, we were pros at unloading our packs, getting into our single file lines and then packing up again like there was no interruption. I am excited to see how this group continues to mesh and work together as a mini community through the duration of the trip- and of course we will keep you all posted on that!

As I finish writing this brief blog, I’m pretty sure I can hear snoring from the rooms around me. ๐Ÿ™‚ We returned from our first round of worship workshops at Sabah Theological Seminary with full hearts. The people we have met are incredibly friendly, joyful, and receptive to what we are sharing, and they have done such an excellent job welcoming us into their country. Tonight will be a night of well-deserved rest (in our cozy bunk beds) and tomorrow we will start the day with Dr. Bradley-acclaimed mango lassis and some time at the beach!
