Adventure Awaits: Summer 2019 Trips

The final deadline for 2018-2019 Baylor Mission Trips is coming fast! Monday, November 19th, 2018 will be here before you know it. Not sure where we’re going or what trips you would be a good fit for? Guatemala Pre-Vet
Where:  Sumpango, Guatemala & Antigua, Guatemala
When:  May 19th, 2019- May 26th, 2019
Who: Do you like dogs? cats? Are you Pre-Med or Pre-Vet? or just a lover of animals? THEN THIS IS THE TRIP MISSION TRIP FOR YOU!
What: Get hands-on veterinary and animal experience and learn about the Guatemalan culture. We hope that through this experience, you will be able to better understand how you can serve through your academic expertice while gaining hands on animal and veterinary experience in different cultures and contexts. Our goal is that you will be able to see more clearly how God might use your knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world!

Hunger in America
Where:  Washington D.C.
When: May 19th, 2019- May 26th, 2019
Who: This trip is open to students of all disciplines. It will be especially great for students in social work, political science, sociology, poverty minors, seminary, and students interested in hunger relief, anthropology, journalism, community and civic engagement, economics, religion, nutrition, community, and public health!
What: Learn about the policies, organizations, and programs affecting hungry individuals in America. Explore how you can serve and advocate on behalf of those Jesus called “the least of these” (Matthew 24:25) Faculty and students will explore the scope, causes and impact of hunger in America. We will learn about different types of interventions used to fight hunger such as: emergency food assistance, federal nutrition programs and advocacy. And along the way we will have unique opportunities to put these interventions into practice by volunteering and serving at organizations such as: DC Central Kitchen, Maryland Breakfast in the Classroom, the United States Department of Agriculture, Capital Area Food Bank, Bread for the World and more!

Italy Visual Storytelling of Migration
Where: 
Sicily, Italy
When: May 20th, 2019- June 2nd, 2019
Who: All majors intererested in a hands-on experience in viual storytelling and are wanting to put their faith in action are welcome on this trip!
What: During this trip, you will be able to immerse yourself in the Culture of Sicily, Italy and use photography and other forms of storytelling to describe your experiences. You  will use acquired skills in visual storytelling to engage with the subjects who come from many backgrounds and faith traditions. As Christians, we have a responsibility to reach out and care for others within both our local communities and the wider world.

Mexico Engineering/Build
Where: Tacate, Mexico
When:  May 19th, 2019- May 30th, 2019
Who: Open to all students! Especially great for engineering majors, Teal residents, and those interested in construction & working really hard to achieve a goal together.
What:  Baylor is partnering with Lazarian World Homes to build an Eco-friendly house for a retired pastor in Tacate, Mexico. Our goal for this trip is that it will create tangible opportunities for you to serve through your academic discipline and allow you to reflect on how God might use your knowledge and skills to make a difference in the world. This trip will provide venues to expeirence and learn from culture, allowing you to connect to what God is doing in and around the world.

Uganda Medical
Where: Kampala, Uganda
When: July 17th, 2019- July 31st, 2019
Who: Students studying Psychology, Neuroscience, Medical Humanities, Pre-Health, or Public Health are encouraged to look into this opportunity!
What: During this trip to Restoration Gateway in Kampala, you will be able to assist in providing medical services and public health outreach. Restoration Gateway sits on 700 acres overlooking the Nile River and has just constructed a new 170 bed hospital, where you will have the opportunity to work with US and Ugandan doctors to provide healthcare and engage in health outreach activities.

Zambia Business Consulting
Where: Lusaka, Zambia
When: May 19th, 2019- June 2nd, 2019
Who: Open to interested undergraduate and graduate students of ALL MAJORS!
What: This interdisciplinary team is based in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. Our mission work is with Family Legacy, a high-impact NGO that gives Zambian orphans a home, and love, and an education. We’ll work with the kids who are graduating from high school, helping them to chart the next stage of their lives. Many of these young people will work in business one day, but they’ve had little exposure to business. And that’s where we come in. We will be coaching students in personal and professional development and how to prepare for the next stage of their careers, as well as consulting on the basics of communication, marketing, customer service and entrepreneurship.
