Forgiveness

At that point Peter got up the nerve to ask, “Master, how many times do I forgive a brother or sister who hurts me? Seven?” Jesus replied, “Seven! Hardly. Try seventy times seven. — Matt. 18:21-22

Prayer of Forgiveness

– 5 minutes: breathe in, breathe out…breathe in, breathe out…

I don’t want to forgive, o Lord…it makes me feel vulnerable and weak…it makes me feel afraid…powerless…

I am angry…and forgiveness is difficult…maybe impossible…my ego defends itself at all costs…I am small…

But I know that forgiveness is not about being powerless…it is about a sacred power of love and kindness and humility…though my arrogance is strong and humility is a challenge for me…

Teach me that being in relationship is more important than being right.

Amen
