From 2004 to 2018 Dr. Scales served as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Professional Development at Baylor University.  Her charge was to create a system of training, evaluating, and developing graduate students who were learning to teach.  She also created other development opportunities for students such as graduate student housing, the Women in the Academy program,  while strengthening student government through the Graduate Student Association.  This article written upon her transition back to the classroom explains her contributions: Departure of Dr. Scales
