Go 24 hours without technology (all screens) and post a reflection about your experience.
This past Easter weekend I went 24 hours without screens and technology! This challenge was easier than I thought it would be and I was thankful for the opportunity to do it at home because I think it would have been nearly impossible without doing so. When we think about taking a “screen break”, I usually just think about putting down my phone, but in reality there are so many more screens that I was not even aware of! Anything from the TV, to my laptop, to the screen on our cars, to the printers, washers and dryers, and to the videoboards at church, there is technology and screens everywhere, and realizing that was definitely one of the most challenging things. But, with my experience, it was pretty easy to find things to distract me from being on my devices: like hanging out with family, reading my Bible, practicing my instrument, going outside, talking with grandparents and so many more! This challenge made me realize how easy it is to put the device away for a few hours, because if I do it for a full day, then I can definitely control my screen time more often. Thought it was physically pretty easy to do, mentally, I had to think about not using my phone or watching the TV, etc, SO many times. It was just natural habit for me to try and reach for my device in my pocket or to search around the room, even when I knew I was going a day without it! Truly made me discover how I could prioritize better in my life!
