Road Trip!

My sister her sophomore year of college attended a small Christian university in San Diego, California called Point Loma Nazarene University. Last summer, as a sort of brother-sister bonding trip, while driving my sister to school, we decided to turn it in to a road trip. We left from our home in Hunt, Texas and headed down Interstate 10 toward our final destination of San Diego.

Our first stop was in Carlsbad, New Mexico where we visited the Carlsbad Caverns. Below you will see a picture that I took of the cace entrance.

After taking our tours of the caves and exploring the not very exciting city of Carlsbad, my sister and I headed to our next destination of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In Albuquerque we visited different historical places as well as going up to the top of Sandia’s Peak. We rode the Sandia’s Peak Tramway up to the top of the mountain, and then proceeded to go on around a three mile hike. The very high point of the mountain has a beath-taking view of Albuquerque as it is almost a straight down cliff to the city. To the left  you will see a picture I took from the top of the mountain looking down the side of the cliff.

After our time spent in Albuquerque at Sandia’s Peak my sister and I began our next adventure up the the Grand Canyon! This particular trip was very exciting for me as visiting the Grand Canyon has been something I have dreamt about for a very long time. When we arrived at the Grand Canyon the view

was breathtaking. My sister and I, being the adventurers that we are, went past the marked boundaries in order to get as close to the edge as possible. Being able to see such a significant land mark made all the hours spent driving on this trip well worth it. To the right you will see a picture taken by my sister of my out on one of the ledges of the Grand Canyon, and below you will see a picture that I took of the view as we looked out over the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon unfortunately was the last stop of our trip. From there we made our way in to California to drop my sister off at school. This was one of the most memorable things my sister and I have ever done together and really brought us closer together. Hopefully this summer we will be able to plan another road trip.
