Research Assistants

Join the HOPE research team! HOPE Research Assistantship Program accepts undergraduate and graduate students on a rolling basis. In the HOPE research lab, you will be mentored by Dr. Melton. She has received Baylor’s Undergraduate Mentor Research Award and BaylorPlus Salute. These awards stem from previous student’s nominating Dr. Melton as a top faculty of Baylor.

Research Assistants help shape and execute the HOPE research projects. Research Assistants are mentored in social science methodology and provide with opportunities to collect and/or enter data. Assistants who excel in their work are provided with opportunities to present at conferences.

Research Assistants can receive college credit for their research experience. A candidate for the student component must be in good standing (a minimum of a 3.0 GPA). Preference is given to those able to commit to at least two semesters, totaling 3 hours of credit. Every 1 hour of course credit is equal to 3-5 hours of research experience for each week.

To find out more information, please email Dr. Melton at Karen_Melton@baylor.edu. In your email: Why are you interested in working in the HOPE research lab?  What do you hope to learn from your time in the HOPE research lab? What previous experience do you have with research (e.g., research methods course, data collection, etc)? Please note, that previous experience is not a requirement.
