Hi, Dr. Qian. I’m Siyu Tao. Long time no see. Recently I found I had dozens of old reeds which are not comfortable to use but I don’t want to waste them, so I’m engaged in fixing them with abrasive paper as you taught before. But I conldn’t find the proper type of paper. Could you please tell me which size is best for fixing the reeds? If there’s any difference between standards in China and America. Please make it clear. Thank you !
Hello, Siyu, How are you? Please give me call when you get chance. Love to chat with you.
I am using a reed glass which I have invented for my reeds. I do not use sand paper. You can find that on this website with your updated Safari browser. http://blogs.baylor.edu/junqianclarinet/fun-links/recommended-equipment/ You can also visit me and I can show you how as well.
In China, most of them are Vandoren reeds. Currently, I and most of my students are using D’Addario ( Rico) Evolution or Reserve Reeds.
