Blogs can have personal, professional, and social benefits

Blogs serve as a bridge between the standard webpage and the increasing need for social networking.  You can create a personal blog where you initiate and moderate ongoing conversations about topics you enoy, such as fishing, hiking, motorcycles, or reading.

Blogs can also serve as professional tools.  Suppose you are leading a new project, and you ask for ideas from other consultants on how to approach project management issues.

Some corporations also operate business blogs where customers can discuss product benefits and features.

MIS graduates earn the best starting pay

MIS graduates earn great pay!

A degree in Information Systems (IS) from Baylor University will prepare you for a career in a dynamic, job growth area. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (2006-2007) lists IS as one of the fastest growing and best paying jobs between now and 2014 — “Employment of computer and IS managers is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014 and job opportunities will be best for applicants with an MIS degree and strong communication and administrative skills.”

Information systems is the study of people, technology, and organizations. If you like new technology like I-Phones, I-Pods, and FaceBook, you have what it takes to major in information systems. All you need is an interest in technology and the desire to use technology to improve people’s lives. Many people think that MIS is all programming. However, programming is just a small part of our curriculum and there are many jobs in IS where you do not program.
