Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (Carlos Saldanha, 2009)

ice_age_3A decent third entry in the now seven-year-old series about cuddly creatures from the Pleistocene Epoch having dangerous adventures and learning lessons about family and togetherness. The use of 3-D imagery is done quite well and gives the already hyper-detailed CGI-created environment that much more depth and presence. Some of the story is a bit too formulaic (again), but, interestingly enough, it’s salvaged by the absolutely ridiculous idea that somehow a separate world of dinosaurs exists beneath the frozen ground of the Ice Age. Not original, but it works. (Starplex 16, Waco, TX)
