Another of the small-budget “experimental” films Soderbergh likes to squeeze in between his prestige Hollywood efforts. While there is much to commend in a filmmaker of his stature still desiring to work on the edges, this lackadaisical, plodding attempt founders badly due to the stunt-casting of Sasha Grey, a real-life adult film star, as a high-price Manhattan call girl trying to find her place in life. The character is already quite bland to being with, and Grey’s dull, unaffecting performance only serves to make her seem that much more remote and tiresome. (Netflix Streaming)
