Obsessed (Steve Shill, 2009)

obsessedThis stylishly empty stab at the sub-Fatal Attraction genre makes no bones about its obviousness even as it introduces a deliberately racialized twist that is as downplayed as it was highlighted in screenwriter David Loughery’s previous film, last summer’s Lakeview Terrace. Even more so than previous films of its ilk, Obsessed pathologizes female desire to an almost absurd degree, but the film is so rudimentary that it’s impossible to take any of it seriously enough to get upset.
