Summer School

Standard

Summer vacation is here! Just kidding.

I thought two summer sessions at Baylor would be easier than the fall and spring semesters, but that is not the case. I find myself constantly stressed because I am taking the maximum amount of hours available. Let me tell you, college is not a joke especially not at Baylor University. Some students are able to fly by summer school and make all A’s while doing it, but I find the summer courses just as challenging if not harder than the courses offered in the fall and spring semesters.

I have already dropped one class for my next summer session so I will not be taking the maximum amount of hours. Hopefully, this will eliminate some stress and allow me to enjoy my summer days. Days like these make me miss my high school work load. My sister is constantly complaining about how time consuming her homework is and I keep saying in my head, just wait till’ college sister.

Fragile

Standard

I come bearing sad news. I just found out a few days ago that a family friend of mine past away. He was 19 years old and died of a drug overdose. I vividly remember playing in his room when we were younger. I stopped talking to him as I got older because he was going down a path I did not want to be apart of. It’s strange how two kids from the same neighborhood end up in two completely different places. His death is tragic and I feel awful for his family. His funeral is Jul. 2. God bless his family and his loved ones.

However, his death has made me realize just how fragile life is. In one day, one hour or one minute, my life could be taken from me. I cherish every single moment and I hope everyone else does too. Every hour of every day is special and should not be forgotten. I try to live my life to the fullest and live to God’s glory, because I do not know what will happen tomorrow. A familiar bible verse and a piece of advice given to me by my father still rings clear today, “Just worry about today and tomorrow will take care of itself.”
