Dare to Dream: 1

Dare to Dream. One can assume what this means. Let me guide your thoughts in the direction of the philosophy of Dare to Dream; a middle school morning program. Still need more guidance? What age group of people may be struggling with their dreams? What age group of people do not have very high-self esteem? What age group of people think that they cannot amount to anything in life? What age group of people need to be shown excessive kindness, love, and encouragement? The answer: Middle/Junior High School students. Do you remember in your life, where everything seemed to be changing. You were stuck in a place where everything is being seen in a new light.

These students are at an age where they highly value what people say and others views about who they are. They want to be popular, to be in the in crowd. So these students unknowingly aspire to be followers of societal views. And sometimes these societal views can lead them to a path of destruction. For example, with the media portraying that successful and famous actors and actresses drink and party which brings them happiness. However, partying and drinking is accompanied by consequences. These consequences students have to be mindful of, because some of the consequences can be devastating.

This morning program guides students to be set apart from everyone else, to dare to dream big! To allow the students to come to realization that no one should deter them of dreaming big and to aspire to achieve that dream no matter what people say, or what the world thinks. The journey may be challenging and long but the rewards are bountiful in the end. We as Baylor Student volunteers are there to inspire these middle school students, connect and develop relationships with them, and encourage them that they can do it no matter what. We as Baylor Students have gotten to this point in our lives and our journey’s are different but someone younger than us can get something out of it.
