My column in the Waco Tribune-Herald this week looks at the value of recurring, annual art shows. Here’s an excerpt:
The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus was reported to have said that no person can ever step into the same river twice. Art exhibits are a little like that because what’s in them is always changing, as are a person’s ideas and attitudes which are crucial elements of looking at art. In central Texas, the beginning of each school year just happens to coincide with one of the best art shows anywhere in the state. The Bosque Art Classic, held each year in Clifton, begins on September 15. Read the whole thing here.
