My column this week was inspired by hearing the Waco Symphony Orchestra play a fantastic version of George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.” The piece often takes something of a backseat to the composer’s own “Rhapsody in Blue” which debuted a few years earlier, but is a masterwork in itself, retaining all its freshness almost 90 years after it was written. Read the whole thing HERE. (One correction: the performance about which I write took place on a Saturday, not a Friday.)
