Jack, it is safest to wear a dark suit. Navy or charcoal is appropriate. Women can wear a black suit. Black suits for men are safest for a formal event. No bold or red ties. See the “This Week in the CDO” email we sent this morning. It included some tips on dressing for your interview.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterYou might consider bringing a copy of your transcript and writing sample, but it is appropriate to follow up with copies if an employer requests those documents. I would bring the “padfolio” you received when admitted to Baylor Law to write notes as needed. You can leave phones, purses, bags, etc. in the CDO.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterChase, you should check in with me or Daniel in the CDO 5-10 minutes before each interview.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterThank you for joining us. You should take your interviews seriously, but I hope you will try to enjoy the process! We are here for you and will be happy to answer any questions you have throughout OCI. Good luck to you all!
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterHave you all selected your interview times? You have until 11:59 p.m. tonight. If you don’t select your time, we will do it for you!
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterOCI Reminder:
Please remember to arrive at the CDO ten minutes before your interview and to check in with Monica or another member of the CDO staff before each interview. Never go directly to the interview room.angela_cruseturnerKeymasterLet’s talk piercings and tattoos! Piercings: Take them out. As far as tattoos, you should do your best to cover them. Remember legal employers are still quite conservative.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterWhile we are talking about attire … Women can wear black, navy, or gray. Skirt suits are still best for women, but you should wear pantyhose with your skirt suit.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterI recommend gray or navy for men. Black should be reserved for formal events.

angela_cruseturnerKeymasterBlain: the Resume Collection employers will reach out to students directly. If you have not heard back from a Resume Collection employer, please contact the CDO before reaching out to them directly.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterJason: it varies by employer. Our hope is that you will hear back and that you will hear back soon, but it takes some employers a little longer that students would like! And, unfortunately, you may not hear back from all employers.
We ask each student to let us know when they hear from an OCI employer. We will keep this list of employers who have contacted students on the Symplicity homepage so that students will know if a specific employer has reached out to some students. Please do not reach out directly to an OCI employer (other than to thank them for the interview) without contacting the CDO.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterJoanna, yes! We recommend that you send thank you notes after each interview. Try to jot down a few notes after each interview so that you can personalize your notes. The CDO will have some note cards available for students to use … while supplies last!
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterSavannah, please send me those firm names in an email so that I don’t forget to follow up with you.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterI recommend bringing copies of your resume, transcript, and writing sample. Only offer a copy of your updated resume if you made a significant change to your resume since bidding. Only provide the interviewer a copy of your transcript and/or writing sample if the interviewer requests either document.
angela_cruseturnerKeymasterSavannah, both good questions! If you would like to reach out to Baylor Law students who clerked for a firm, let us know. The CDO will contact students to see if they will be willing to speak to you about their experience. (I am sure all will be!)
Please do not contact OCI employers directly. We ask employers for interviewer information. We will do our best to get that information to you before your interviews.
